Tanzania offers a variety of amazing dive sites. Zanzibar is particularly popular for diving, but Tanzania also offers other great diving spots such as Pemba Island, Mafia Island and in the scenic Lake Tanganyika.
Diving at Pemba Island
Pemba Island is the most northern of Tanzania's islands in the Indian Ocean. Here, you will find countless fish in the all colours of the rainbow. The area around North Horn is particularly famous for having several types of sharks, including hammerheads.
Diving at Mafia Island
Like Pemba Island, Mafia Island also has various stunning fish and from October to May, you might even get to dive with whale sharks.
Hop in the freshwater Lake Tanganyika
The ocean is not the only place to dive. The beautiful Lake Tanganyika in the western part of Tanzania has incredibly crystal-clear water. It will be a completely different experience than ocean diving, as it will show you different types of fish and plant than you typically find in the ocean. If you are looking for a different diving experience in Tanzania, you should visit Lake Tanganyika.
Take your PADI certificate in Tanzania
Take a diving certificate and experience the world under the sea. Tanzania, and especially Zanzibar, offers some of the most beautiful diving experiences. Your diving instructor will make you feel comfortable and safe during your dive, and it will be an experience you will never forget.
