Travel to Botswana - All of Africa in one country

Botswana, located in the southern part of Africa and just north of South Africa, offers the best of this continent within a relatively small area. Botswana is often overlooked by travellers. The country lies between tourist magnets such as South Africa, Victoria Falls, or Namibia, and rarely receives the same attention as those destinations. But we strongly advise you to travel here because Botswana is a country filled with beautiful areas and exciting experiences.

Okavango Delta

A trip to Botswana should definitely include a visit to the Okavango Delta, the world's largest inland delta. This area was once part of Lake Makgadikgadi, which dried out more than 10,000 years ago. Today, the Okavango River has no connection to the sea. Instead, it creates a swampy inland basin delta in the Kalahari Desert.

The Okavango is very diverse and offers many opportunities for fans of nature and wildlife. There are a number of camping sites near the delta, many of which are only accessible via a mokoro (a local canoe). This area gives a special feeling of something wild and isolated, and a visit to the Okavango will certainly be one of the highlights of your trip to Botswana.

The salt plains of Makgadikgadi

In northern Botswana, you can also find the largest system of salt plains in the world - Makgadikgadi. The place itself is distinctive and fascinating, but it becomes even more special thanks to the enormous concentration of zebras (one of the largest in Africa). Camping under the open skies here in the middle of the salt plains is an indescribable experience - don't leave Botswana without having tried it.

National parks and safaris in Botswana

Most of the people who travel to Botswana choose to visit the country's most popular national park, Chobe National Park located in the north western part of the country. Although it is only the country's third largest national park, this is the park where you can find the greatest concentration and diversity of wildlife. Each afternoon, the area around the Chobe River starts to fill up with animals of all kinds, and your biggest problem will be trying to decide where to look, and which animals you want to photograph - elephants, giraffes, lions, or monkeys?
