You start out in colorful Miami where we have booked the first three nights in a cool hostel. It's a great starting point if you want to check out one of the most popular destinations in the US. Check out the iconic Miami Beach during the day and visit one of many nightclubs in the evenings. During your stay in Miami, you will also get to visit the Everglades for a day - see how many crocs and gators you can spot! After this it's about time to start the road trip and drive southwards to visit Key West before moving up along the western coast of Florida. Stop in Tampa before visiting Crystal River, famous for a large number of manatees. Continue all the way up to the cozy coastal town Pensacola, famous for their stunning white beaches.
From Pensacola in Florida you continue into Louisiana, where we recommend a stop in New Orleans. As you probably know, the city is famous for it's legendary jazz-culture. There's a ton of opportunities if you want to experience the local jazz bands performing in the jazz clubs. Especially Bourbon Street is a good place to start the party.
It's time to experience the wild west as you know if from the classic Western movies. But first, it's worth to do a short stop in both Houston followed by San Antonio. In San Antonio you should visit the Alamo, an important site in American history. From here, it's time to cover some kilometers surrounded by Texas' dry landscapes. Make a stop in Big Bend National Park where you get stunning views over the desert and prairies.
First stop in New Mexico is Roswell. A city which is primarily famous for the alleged UFO incident in 1947. So if you're into mysteries and alien stories, you'll love this place. Next up is El Paso - a city that borders Mexico. You can't avoid to notice the Mexican influence here, especially when it comes to the food scene which is heavily influenced by the Mexican cuisine.
From New Mexico you continue into Arizona and first stop is Tucson. Check out the Arizona-Sonora desert museum or hike the Sabino Camino. Next up is Saguara National Park which is home to countless cactuses, which is symbol number one on the true American Wild West. From one national park to another, Sedona NP should also be on your list of sights. Here you can see the iconic Monument Valley, arches and canyonlands. Last stop in Arizona is Phoenix.
From the deserted landscapes of Arizona it's time to visit the last state on this road trip, California. Start out in Joshua Tree National Park. Take a trip to Hidden Valley or check out Skull Rock. Continue to the Californian coastline, where you drop off the car in Los Angeles. On this road trip you have covered around 5,400 kilometers, so it's time for a well deserved break from the roads. We've arranged 3 nights in a cool hostel right by Venice Beach, so if you want to spend some beach time, now is your chance. Whether you're ready to go home after 3 days or need more time is up to you. Just let us know, and we'll make sure to plan your trip accordingly.
