Remember, this is only a route proposal for your big trip. If you wish to receive personal assistance designing your itinerary, please get in contact with our adventurous travel experts. They love designing dream trips and they give you great insider travel advice.
You kick off your trip in Cape Town, a great city on the southwest coast of South Africa. There's no shortage of things to do here, like hiking (or take a cable car) up the Table Mountain, visiting Robben Island where Nelson Mandela was held in prison during the apartheid era or make a trip to the Cape of Good Hope (and maybe spot some penguins and ostriches on the way!).
You have almost a full week in Cape Town, so we suggest making good use of it! You can take day trips to Stellenbosch for wine tastings, take some great selfies at Bokaap, hike up Lions Head, take a beach day or spent some time exploring the townships and museums linked to the era of apartheid - there is so much history in South Africa!
Experience the heart of Johannesburg with a 3-day SoWeTo orientation tour, offering an active and immersive exploration of the world-famous Soweto township.
Pedal your way through the vibrant streets on a bike, visiting iconic landmarks such as Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu's homes on Vilakazi Street. Taste the local flavors with delicious food and drinks, all while getting some exercise and engaging with the lively community.
For those wanting to dive deeper, optional activities include a visit to the Hector Pieterson Memorial Site or a longer bike tour.
After your experience in the townships of Johannesburg, you will go on a 5 day safari trip in the iconic Krüger National Park. Experience the "wild" side of Africa and if you're lucky, you might get to see the ‘Big 5′, meaning that you will get to encounter (and live among) elephants, lions, rhino, leopards and buffalo. Pretty cool, eh?
Next up: beach! Mauritius is a tropical paradise with lots of cool experiences. We recommend exploring the island's stunning beaches, like Flic-en-Flac and Belle Mare, where you can snorkel, dive, and work on your tan.
For a dose of adventure, hike up Le Morne Brabant for breathtaking panoramic views or explore the very pretty Black River Gorges National Park. Don't miss the Seven Colored Earths of Chamarel, a natural phenomenon with multi-colored sand dunes.
For water enthusiasts, kitesurfing in the turquoise lagoons or taking a catamaran cruise to nearby islets are must-dos. Wrap up your trip with a visit to a local rum distillery and enjoy the island's lively nightlife before it's time to go home!
