Fly to Amman in Jordan, where your first adventure is an 8-day group tour around the country. Together with other backpackers from all over the world, you'll get to experience the Dead Sea, the jaw-dropping ancient world wonder that is the city of Petra, and the amazing Wadi Rum desert.
After a night in Amman, you'll head to the Ajloun Nature Reserve for a half day of trekking. Next up is Wadi Mujib where you'll enjoy a short hike through the picturesque streams of the striped canyon. Then it's time to relax and float like a cork in the salt-rich waters of the Dead Sea before some more trekking in the Dana Nature Reserve.
Prepare to be amazed as you explore the dazzling rock-cut buildings of Petra, The Lost City. It's like something straight out of an Indiana Jones movie! The adventure continues with a 4x4 ride across the rolling sand dunes of Wadi Rum and a night spent in a tented camp under a star-studded sky.
This first part of your trip ends in Amman where you'll board a plane headed to Egypt.
We recommend that you spend a few days in Cairo. Not only is the city itself worth a visit with its buzzing marketplaces, jam-packed museums and the iconic River Nile, it's also the best base for trips to the famous pyramids of Giza - the last remaining original World Wonder.
You could also head north to the coastal city of Alexandria to dine on fresh seafood and wander around the huge modern library.
When you're ready, you'll fly south to the Red Sea resort of Sharm el Sheikh.
Now it's time to head underwater with an 8-day diving course. Dahab (about an hour's drive from Sharm el Sheikh) is the perfect spot, since the Red Sea is filled with spectacular dive spots with a great variety of marine life, some superb wrecks and excellent water visibility.
In no time you'll be mastering the art of diving and exploring life underneath the water's surface. If you already have a PADI certificate, you can choose to go fundiving instead.
