This itinerary is just a suggestion and can be customised to suit your unique travel plans. Make it longer, make it shorter. Add in the things you want to do. Get in touch with our travel experts to turn this itinerary into your dream Argentina adventure.
First stop on this itinerary is Panama City, the capital of... you guessed it, Panama. We've arranged the first 2 nights for you, so all you have to do is drop your luggage at the coolest hostel in the city and start exploring.
Check out the obvious sight, the Panama Canal, and take a stroll along the waterfront. Panama City has plenty of cosy spots and historical sites, so the first two days will fly by, and before you know it, it's time to move on.
From Panama City you're embarking on the first bounty experience of this tour. The San Blas Islands are nothing less than magical. How does four days surrounded by white sand beaches, crystal clear water and delicious, fruity cocktails sound? Good? That's what we thought.
Enjoy the chill vibes here and get your tan on before you're about to use your brain for a week. When your time on the San Blas Islands end, you take the ferry back to the mainland and arrange your own transport (most likely by bus - it's the cheapest!) to Bocas del Toro.
¡Hola! ¿Cómo estás? ¿Estás listo para aprender español?
It's time to brush up your spanish skills. They will come in handy for the rest of this itinerary, so you might as well start with it. We've arranged a one-week stay at a language school in beautiful Bocas del Toro.
Besides being great for getting your Spanish up to speed, it's also located in the beautiful Bocas del Toro, well-known for being a tropical paradise, as well as hosting a vibrant nightlife. You have seven days here before continuing to Costa Rica.
Take a local bus from Bocas del Toro to Puerto Viejo, and do whatever you want here. We've included three nights in a really cool hostel, but you can opt for more nights, if you want.
There's some good adventure possibilities such as rafting or ziplining, so if you're up for some more adrenaline-pumping activities, this is the place to be. The town usually attracts many backpackers so there's plenty of opportunities to get to know some new people while travelling this part of the journey on your own.
Find your own way from Puerto Viejo to San José (there is a direct bus), and stay in the city for a night or two (we can help you book a cool hostel if you like).
Next up is an 8-day adventure tour that takes you through some of the best spots in Costa Rica, including La Fortuna and the small surf town of Santa Teresa. You'll be travelling with other backpackers on this tour and accommodation is included. A highlight of the tour is the visit to the Arenal volcano, which is a spectacular sight.
You fly to Guatemala City and find your own way to the colonial town of Antigua. Here you've got some free time, so you can explore the town on your own. And trust us, there's plenty to see in this charming place.
We have also arranged the amazing 2-day Acatenango Hike and the 6-day Semuc Champey and Tikal experience for you - both departing from Antigua. The former is an intense but not too difficult hike to see the Acatenango volcano, and the latter are two of the most impressive sights in Guatemala. You'll travel into the Guatemalan wilderness to find caves and waterfalls that were once used for ancient Mayan rituals. You will also learn about Tikal, a former Maya citadel of which some impressive ruins are left. The cherry on top of this tour is trekking the slopes of the active Pacaya Volcano before returning to your hostel in Antigua.
When it's time to move on, buy a bus ticket and board the bus to Puerto Escondido in Mexico!
Last, but not least, on this itinerary is an 8-day surf camp in the Mexican beach town, Puerto Escondido. Don't worry if you can't surf already, there are instructors waiting to help and before you know it, you'll be cruising the waves like a boss.
Surf during the days and chill in the evenings. The surf camp usually attracts a lot of young backpackers so there should be plenty of opportunities to make some new friends!
We have included your flight home from Puerto Escondido, but whether you want to end your journey here and go back home, or continue elsewhere is entirely up to you. Just let us know what your plans are, and we'll make it happen!
