Welcome to Buenos Aires and the start of your adventure!

On arrival at the international airport after your included flight, make your own way to your pre-booked hostel. You'll be spending three nights in a dorm at the Millhouse Youth Hostel* - a vibrant, social hostel in the heart of the city on Avenida de Mayo.

Loads of activities are organised by the hostel throughout the day and night, so you'll have plenty of opportunities to meet other travellers and experience the city.

Your three nights in Buenos Aires give you time to take advantage of the 2hr Tango, Wine & Empanadas Experience included in your travel pass. Head to a studio in the Abasto area where you will get to know the history of the neighbourhood and tango. Enjoy an hour-long tango class and finish with a wine tasting accompanied by empanadas.

Spend the rest of your time in the city exploring independently.

*Option to upgrade room, choose a different property or extend your stay in the city.

Buenos Aires to San Pedro de Atacama Waterfalls and high-altitude deserts

Bidding adios to Buenos Aires, it's time to start using your 40-day travel pass that will take you all the way to Lima in Peru.

This travel pass gives you a flexible way to travel with no fixed schedules - travel at your own pace, plan your own experiences and choose your own accommodation. Your transport is taken care of with long-distance bus journeys included in the price - one less thing to budget for on your trip.

Your first bus journey is the overnight bus to Puerto Iguazu where a full-day trip to the Argentinean side of the Iguazu Falls is included. Walk along the man-made platforms and bridges that follow the contours of the river taking you right up next to hundreds of waterfalls covering a 4 kilometre stretch.

Spend another day or two here to explore the Brazilian side independently.

When you're ready to leave, take your included 33hr bus ride to Salta - the provincial capital in the mountainous northwest of Argentina. Enjoy a free days at leisure relaxing after your long journey and exploring the city at leisure before joining your included Cafayate & Villages Day Trip.

You'll visit some of the most breathtaking landscapes around Salta, including the Calchaquies Valleys and the Quebrada de las Conchas. Afterwards, participate in a fantastic wine tour and visit a winery in the region where the Torrontes wine is produced.

Then it's time to leave Argentina and continue to country number two - Chile. Your included bus takes you to the dusty town of San Pedro de Atacama where you'll enjoy a Moon Valley Day Tour. See abstract natural formations, salt caves and the Licancabur Volcano in one of the world's driest deserts. Watch the landscape turn brilliant shades of red as the awe-inspiring sunset sinks over the horizon.

San Pedro de Atacama to La Paz Salt flats and shamans

After you've seen enough of the other-worldly Atacama Desert, it's time to venture across the far north of Chile and into neighbouring Bolivia on a 3-day adventure to the town of Uyuni via the famous salt flats.

Travelling by a mix of minibus and Jeep, you'll pass through the Dali Desert, Green Lagoon and Laguna Blanca to admire the surrealistic landscapes, thermal water pools, and Sol de Mañana geysers.

During this adventure you'll also spend a night in a salt hotel.

There will be plenty of time for photo opportunities out on the salt flats. The expansive, flat horizon warps perspective and means you can create some really fun photos with small objects like dinosaur toys!

The trip ends in the town of Uyuni where you can spend a little time before your included public bus to Potosi. Enjoy a few days here to explore independently and when you're ready, hop on to the next bus that will take you to Sucre - an attractive colonial city.

Here you'll enjoy a 3hr Sucre Cooking Class & Cocktail Making with a Local. In this interactive cookery class, our local chef will teach you the art of preparing a delicious 3-course meal and a Bolivian hot sauce whilst learning about local ingredients and traditional cooking methods such as the Batan. Shake up your very own cocktail using Bolivian spirits and seasonal fruits as demonstrated by the chef. Finish off the experience by dining together in the company of the chef and receive a recipe of the main dish to recreate for friends and family.

After you've had your fill of Sucre, take your included overnight bus to La Paz - the capital of Bolivia.

La Paz to Cusco Via Lake Titicaca

In La Paz you've got a 3hr La Paz Local Explorer sightseeing tour included. You'll see both major sights and hidden gems as you visit a cemetery, meet a shaman, and explore the vertiginous neighbourhood of El Alto by cable car.

It's worthwhile spending a few extra days in La Paz to explore independently before taking your included shuttle transfer to Copacabana located on Lake Titicaca. The town is known for its religious festivals and red-roofed houses. It's also a great base for exploring Isla del Sol and Isla de la Luna, islands with sacred Incan archaeological sites.

When you're ready to continue with your journey, board your included public bus to Puno, across the border on the Peruvian side of the lake. Here you will enjoy a 2-day Lake Titicaca & Luquina Homestay. You'll visit the Uros Floating Islands by boat where you will learn about the way of life of the communities living here.

Continue by boat to Taquile Island to meet “the best weavers of Peru” and go on a beautiful hike for about one and a half hours to admire the panoramic of the lake. A final boat ride will take you to the Luquina community where you will overnight. You will enjoy a delicious dinner with the local family before going to bed in their home.

Start the following day early with a tasty breakfast with the family before getting the opportunity to participate in their daily activities such as sheep grazing, working in the crops, or even learning how to milk a cow. Have one final meal with the family before taking the motorboat back to Puno.

When you're ready, board your included overnight bus to Cusco.

Cusco and Machu Picchu Trek the Inca Trail

Cusco and the surrounding Sacred Valley is a treasure trove of Inca ruins, so we recommend spending at least five full days here. Especially as you have a 4hr Market & Cooking Class with a Local experience to enjoy as part of your travel pass.

During this experience, you'll visit the San Pedro Market and get a little taste of local life in Cusco before walking to the cooking studio for a cooking class where you will learn how to prepare traditional Peruvian dishes, drinks, and a delicious dessert.

How you to choose to spend the rest of your time in Cusco is up to you, but you'll need a bit of time to prepare for your included Inca Trail Trek. Permits for the Inca Trail sell out months in advance, which is why it's best to book well ahead of your trip.

Your included four-day guided tour takes you past rambling rivers, ancient ruins, and scenic mountain views with the guidance and support of porters, cooks, and guides hired from local communities. The terrain is rugged and steep but the sense of accomplishment you'll feel is unparalleled once you reach Machu Picchu by sunrise.

Cusco to Lima Colonial charm and desert oases

When you've recovered from your trek and ready to leave Cusco, board the overnight bus that will take you to Arequipa. This attractive colonial city is worth a few days of exploration and it's a great place to enjoy a traditional Peruvian Pisco Sour!

It's also a great base to explore the Colca Canyon on your included 2-day trekking adventure. Visit the Cruz Del Condor viewpoint to see the flight of the condors before trekking deep into the canyon through local villages to reach your lodge for a rewarding dinner.

The next day, follow a steep trail up to Cabanaconde and take a bus to Chivay. Soak your sore legs in the hot springs before returning to Arequipa after a challenging, but enjoyable trip. Perhaps spend another night in Arequipa to relax before taking your included overnight bus to Nazca. Here you can opt to visit the mysterious Nazca Lines.

From Nazca, take a short 2.5hr journey to Ica, the jumping point to the Huacachina desert oasis with its tranquil lagoon and backdrop of amazing sand dunes. Here you'll enjoy a Sand-Buggy & Sand-Boarding experience. Get ready to cruise to the tops of 500-metre-high sand dunes and go rocketing down the slopes in the sand buggy.

When you're ready to leave, take the short 1hr bus to Paracas. Here you'll take a boat tour to see the impressive Candelabra geoglyph, Peruvian boobies, Humboldt penguins and abundant marine life at the Ballestas Islands archipelago. Visit the pristine Paracas Natural Reserve in the afternoon to see La Catedral rock formation and watch flamingos and parihuanas from a breathtaking scenic overlook.

The final leg of your journey brings you to Lima - a bustling metropolis and the capital city of Peru. Enjoy a 3hr bike tour with a local covering top sights around Miraflores and Barranco, including the Kennedy Park, Huaca Pucllana, Park of Love, Larcomar, Bridge of Sights and Plaza Barranco. As you ride, you will enjoy an amazing view of the Pacific Ocean and street art, learn stories and fun facts about the neighborhoods and culture.

Spend as many days as you wish in Lima exploring independently before boarding your included return flight home to the UK after what has been an incredible adventure across South America!
