From El Calafate, you make your own way (and back) to El Chaltén, Argentina's trekking capital. The village itself is small and cosy, with a laid-back atmosphere that’s perfect for unwinding after a day on the trails.
The main attraction here is Mount Fitz Roy, whose jagged peaks provide a dramatic backdrop to your adventures. There are numerous trails to suit all levels of hikers. For a moderate hike, try the Laguna Capri trail, which offers stunning views of Fitz Roy and a beautiful lake as your reward.
