This itinerary is just a suggestion and can be customised to suit your unique travel plans. Make it longer, make it shorter. Add in the things you want to do. Get in touch with our travel experts to turn this itinerary into your dream New Zealand adventure.
Kick off your NZ adventure in Auckland - the country's biggest city.
Enjoy three nights of hostel accommodation that have been pre-booked for you. Smack bang in the centre of Auckland, the popular Lylo Hostel offers everything a backpacker could need, including a bar, communal kitchen, and clean, comfortable dorms with pod-like beds.
Use this time to relax after your long flight from the UK and explore all that the city has to offer. You can also use this time to plan your next steps because one question you'll need to answer is: where do you want to go next?
With your included hop-on hop-off Kiwi Experience bus pass, you set the pace. And the route! You can do as much or as little as you like, taking as much time as you need to explore each stop and knowing that your transport is covered.
You'll meet plenty of other young adult travellers along the way and enjoy some awesome activities. On the North Island this includes:
- Sandboarding at Cape Reinga
- Cathedral Cove, Coromandel
- Karangahake Gorge
- Ruakuri Walk
- Taranaki Falls
Once you've finished exploring the North Island, take the included ferry from Wellington to Picton to continue your adventure on the South Island.
Again, you can choose where you stop and how much time you spend at each spot. But we recommend taking full advantage of these added extras included in your bus pass:
- Secrets of Bungy in Queenstown
- Approx. 2-hour boat cruise through Milford Sound
- Paua Factory, Riverton
- Cape Foulwind
- Punakaiki Pancake Rocks
- Lake Matheson
To make the most of your bus pass, we suggest following a circuit around the South Island, following the western coastline south to Queenstown (or even as far south as Invercargill) before heading back north along the east coast with stops including Christchurch and Kaikoura.
Whatever route you decide on, return to Auckland for your return flight home.
Your travel pass takes you all the way back to Auckland for better international flight options home.
You can spend up to 12 months travelling on this unlimited pass, so take all the time you want exploring the two islands.
We've included return international flights in this package, which will be booked according to your planned itinerary. Not sure when you might want to return home? Let us know and we can suggest flexible flight tickets with free-of-charge date changes.
Remember, we're here to design your perfect trip!
