If you want to experience the best of Queensland, you might as well do it in style. This trip from Cairns to Brisbane is filled with activities with those that will both get your adrenaline pumping and the more laid-back ones. If you ask us, we believe that this trip captures the authentic Aussie vibe.

You start this trip by flying into Cairns in the Northern part of Queensland. We've booked you in for 3 nights at a real youth hostel - one of our favourites in the city. After getting rid of the worst jetlag and hitting the bar once or twice it's time for the first adventure of the trip, visiting the beautiful and tropical Cape Tribulation on a 2-day tour.

Back in Cairns it's time to experience life beneath the surface when you have 5 days to take your PADI certificate in a camp with other backpackers. Don't worry if you already have your certificate - you can opt for an advanced course instead.

Now you have 15 days to travel down the East Coast all the way to Brisbane with the included 15-day bus pass from Greyhound. En route we have included quite a few activities, such as a day river rafting and a skydive over Mission Beach.

We have included 3 nights on Magnetic Island, as well as a night in Airlie Beach before you go on an absolutely amazing reef sleep on board a boat. Trust us, this experience is something you don't want to miss.

Last part of the trip includes a 3-day trip around K'gari (Fraser Island) including both a post and a pre night in a hostel, before ending with 3 nights in Brisbane. If you want, continue to travel south to Sydney and Melbourne, or you can jump on board the plane home. It's entirely up to you.

Cairns and around Explore ancient rainforest

You arrive in Cairns with your first 3 nights pre-booked in a true backpacker hostel. If you're travelling solo, this place is perfect for finding new friends as it's probably the hostel in Cairns with the best youth backpacker vibe.

After settling here for a few days it's time to visit the more lush part of North Queensland on a 2-day trip to Cape Tribulation. Once you're back it's time for diving as we have included a PADI 'learn to dive' course. When you're ready to head down the coast, you can activate your 15-day bus pass and start moving towards Brisbane.

Cairns to Magnetic Island Time to get out of your comfort zone

Once you arrive in Mission Beach we've arranged two really cool adrenaline pumping activities for you. First is the Raging Thunder Tully River Rafting where you'll be rafting down one of Australia's best rafting rivers and home to the World Championships of rafting back in 2019.

The other activity is a skydive over Mission Beach from almost 5km high. The view over the coast that you get here is non-comparable to anything else you've done before. For this part of the journey down the coast we've arranged 3 nights in Magnetic Beach for you to take a breather before moving on.

Whitsundays & Fraser Island Sleeping in the Great Barrier Reef

Travel from Magnetic Island down to Airlie Beach where you have the first night included in a hostel. After a good night's sleep we've arranged one of the absolute highlights on this entire trip. The 2-day sailing trip including an awesome reef sleep where your accommodation for the night is comfortable and well-appointed sleeping quarters on the boat only surrounded by the stunning Great Barrier Reef. Once you're back in Airlie, it's time to explore Fraser Island. The tour is for 5 days including both a pre and a post night.

Brisbane Digest and reflect

The last part of the trip stretches from Fraser Island and down to Brisbane where we have included 3 nights in one of our favourite hostels in the city. Explore the city's many cool neighbourhoods, and digest the past month's activities before boarding the plane home again. If you want to go home that is! We've included a flight home, but if you want to continue your trip we'll arrange your trip accordingly. Let us know what you're dreaming about.
