Volunteering in the Philippines - FAQ

Why volunteer in the Philippines?

Volunteering in the Philippines offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a country that is rich in cultural diversity and natural beauty but faces various social and environmental challenges. In places like Dumaguete and Palawan, volunteers can make a significant impact by supporting community-driven initiatives.

The Philippines needs volunteers to address issues including education, environmental conservation, and healthcare. By volunteering, you can help empower local communities, assist in preserving the stunning natural landscapes, and promote sustainable development. In return, volunteers gain an immersive experience in the Filipino culture known for its warmth and hospitality.

You'll learn new skills, broaden your perspectives, and create meaningful connections with people from all walks of life. Moreover, the natural wonders of the Philippines, from the coral reefs of Palawan to the bustling streets of Dumaguete, provide an enriching backdrop for a fulfilling volunteer experience. Volunteering here is not just about the work - it's about becoming part of a community and making a lasting difference while experiencing the true essence of Filipino life.

What types of volunteer projects are available in the Philippines?

We offer a range of volunteer programs in the Philippines covering marine conservation with scientific diving, assistance at local schools, and construction projects. Whichever style of volunteering program you choose, you'll be working closely with the local community to support conservation efforts or help improve educational opportunities for children by teaching English. And there will be plenty of opportunity to learn about Filipino culture during your volunteer trip.

Where can I volunteer in the Philippines?

Our marine conservation projects take place near Dumaguete on the island of Negros in the Visayas region of the Philippines. Dumaguete is a university city right by the coast with easy access to beaches and other islands. The coastline has many vibrant coral reefs that need protecting, especially as they are home to a diverse range of marine life.

If you join one of our community projects, you'll be based on the gorgeous island of Palawan - a popular tourist destination with its well-preserved natural environment and emerald rice fields dotted around the island. It's also home to many beautiful beaches and you'll have free time on the weekends to explore the local attractions.
