Jungle Walk–Taricaya Reserve(B/L/D)

On Day 2, breakfast will be served at 7:30 AM, providing a hearty start to your adventurous day. At 8:30 AM, begin an excursion along the serene forest path that runs parallel to the river, leading you to the Taricaya Volunteers Lodge and Research Center. Here, you'll explore the Taricaya Wildlife Rescue Center, a leading conservation project. This is not a zoo; it’s a dedicated rehabilitation center where animals like macaws, toucans, spider monkeys, jaguarondi, and the rescued Andean Spectacled bears are cared for, with the goal of releasing them back into the wild whenever possible. The center is renowned for boosting local wildlife populations, such as the black spider monkey, through Peru’s first Wildlife Reintroduction Program. As you explore, you'll also discover the artificial beaches part of the Taricaya turtle project, aimed at protecting turtle eggs from poachers until they hatch in November.

By 1:00 PM, you’ll return to the lodge for a satisfying lunch. Post-lunch, take some time to relax in the hammock area, enjoy a refreshing cocktail from the Tunche bar, or recharge in the privacy of your bungalow.

At 3:45 PM, a deep expedition into the Taricaya Ecoreserve begins. Guided by an expert, you'll venture through a primary protected forest rich with 300+ year old trees. Your guide will enrich your journey with fascinating insights into the history and biology of the flora and fauna, enhancing your experience with sounds and sights of the forest. Ascend 15 meters to access the canopy walkway, a 90-meter suspension bridge, leading you to the Canopy platform. This is the highest tree platform in South America, soaring 45 meters in the crown of an ancient Kapok tree—perfect for adventure enthusiasts. Here, witness spectacular views and perhaps glimpse flying macaws, parrots, or toucans, all while soaking in the unforgettable sunset.

Descending around 6:00 PM, as daylight fades, you'll walk back to the lodge, witnessing the magical transition of the forest from day to night, where creatures of the night emerge.

Conclude your eventful day with dinner at 7:30 PM, paired with delicious Amazonian cocktails at the bar. It’s the perfect time to relax, reflect, and recharge, marking a splendid end to your day. Please remember to save energy and use it wisely throughout your stay.

Day 3: Amazon Jungle, Peru

After breakfast, head upriver to the Tambopata National Reserve and begin the trek to Lake Sandoval. After enjoying the lake, we will return to have lunch and rest. Later in the day you will have the option to  Navigate the Madre de Dios River in your own inflatable boat. End the day with a farewell dinner.

Tambopata National Reserve - Lake Sandoval (B/L/D)

Your day begins at the break of dawn, precisely at 4:30 AM, with the gentle aroma of freshly brewed coffee. A quick to-go breakfast sets the stage for an adventurous journey as you head upriver on a motorboat, embarking on a one-hour voyage to the entrance of the Tambopata National Reserve. Rising early serves a double purpose: the opportunity to witness the vibrant wildlife at its most active, and to avoid the searing heat of mid-morning while exploring the lake.

By 6:00 AM, you start your 3 km trek to the majestic Lake Sandoval. This journey through the lush, diverse ecosystem is brimming with life; along the path, you might catch glimpses of playful squirrel monkeys swinging through the trees, hear the distant call of a howler monkey, or spot the vibrant plumage of a blue and yellow macaw flitting overhead. Upon reaching the lake's mouth, you board a rowboat where your guide gently paddles across the lake’s mirror-like surface. As you glide through this serene environment, there is a chance to encounter the imposing large black caiman, or even the elusive family of endangered giant river otters that call the lake home. Pause to soak in the tranquil beauty and enjoy a snack by the water’s edge.

By 11:00 AM, with your heart full from the wonders of nature, you begin the journey back. The 3 km hike takes you to the motorboat, which then carries you downriver, returning you to the welcoming arms of the lodge just as the afternoon sun reaches its peak.

At noon, you find yourself back at the lodge, ready for a well-deserved rest after the morning’s exhilarating adventures. An inviting lunch awaits at 1:00 PM, offering delicious flavors that rejuvenate and prepare you for the afternoon ahead.

With lunch behind you, 2:00 PM offers a reprieve as you relax in the hammocks, sip a refreshing cocktail at the bar, or retreat to the comfort of your private bungalow. Take this time to recharge before the evening’s activities.

As the sun begins to sink, join your guide at 4:00 PM for a captivating sunset cruise. The motorboat softly navigates the river, where turtles bask on logs and monkeys cavort among the trees. Graceful herons perch along the riverbanks, painting a picturesque scene. At this magical hour, the engine is silenced, allowing the gentle river current to carry you along, surrounded by the stunning backdrop of a sunset casting its warm glow upon the river. During the dry season, don’t miss the chance to stop at the river's sandy beach—to feel the cool water on your feet and perhaps take a refreshing swim.

As twilight turns to night, embark on a 6:30 PM night cruise on the river. The darkness reveals a different world, where spectacled caimans lay along the banks and, with a bit of luck, you might spot capybaras—the largest rodents in the world. If the sky is clear, look upwards to see it studded with stars, perhaps identifying constellations as you float softly downriver, experiencing the quiet energy of the jungle at night.

Conclude your day at 7:30 PM with a delightful dinner and the exotic flavors of Amazonian cocktails at the bar. Reflect on the day's adventures, unwind, and let the peace of the jungle night guide you to a restful end.
