The Kuga campervan is ideal for 2-3 travellers on a budget who are still keen on travelling in "style".

The Kuga campervan is fully equipped for your next adventure. Whether you’re planning a trip to the mountains, the city, or the beach (we suggest all of the above!), the Kuga is fully equipped to make your journey through Japan both comfortable and enjoyable. With plenty of tools, storage space and a practical interior, all you need to bring is your sense of adventure.

The Kuga campervan comes with built-in fridge, gas stove and microwave - the ideal compact campervan to rent for your travels across Japan.

Important: The high season for campervan rental in Japan runs from March to October. The earlier you book, the better the price will be. When availability goes down, campervans become more expensive, so don't waste any time with getting your booking in!

Driving and sleeping in the Kuga campervan

The Kuga is a compact vehicle and simple to drive. It features power steering, power brakes and automatic transmission. If you are not familiar with the steering wheel to the right and driving on the left side of the road, don't worry, it will only take you a short while to get comfortable. Drivers in Japan are usually very courteous and strictly follow rules and signs.

The front cabin seats three people (two adults and a child) while driving, but only two people can sleep in the double bed at the rear of this campervan. If you bring a child, there is a short top single bed (length: 160 cm). During the day, the double bed can be stored and a table pops up. Up to four people can sit comfortably and enjoy a nice campervan dinner. Under the seating area you have space for luggage.

Kitchen facilities

The Kuga includes a living space with built-in kitchenette. Here you will find a sink with electrical pump (the water tank holds 35L), microwave, two-burner gas stove and the 57-litre fridge. A practical side table folds out when the side door is open. Cooking utensils such as cutlery and crockery are practically stored in drawers and cabinets.

Benefits

Travellers Autobarn Japan provides the following benefits with every campervan rental:

- Rentals from age 18
- No young drivers fee
- Free unlimited kilometres
- 24/7 roadside assistance
- Plenty of available options, from WiFi routers to portable heaters

Rental Locations and one-way rental

All pick-ups and drop-offs take place at Tokyo Narita International Airport. Since there is currently only one location in Japan, there are no possibilities for a one-way rental.

Age and licences

You must be 18 years of age (at the time of pickup) with a valid driver’s licence to rent a Travellers Autobarn campervan. No young driver fee is charged.

IMPORTANT:
Holders of Swiss, German, French, Belgian, Monaco and Taiwanese licences must carry the “Japanese translation” at the same time as the original of the relevant licence. You can apply for the Japanese translation at JAF, the Japan Automobile Federation.

Anyone with a driver's licence issued in a country other than the above needs to carry an international driver's licence. It is valid for one year from the date of issue. Every passenger must also carry their passport.

What does it cost to rent a Kuga campervan?

The rental price varies according to demand and season. You'll get the lowest price if you book your Kuga campervan well in advance when availability is high. It's also cheaper to travel during low season. On the other hand, if you book close to your departure date or book your camper for high season, you'll pay more. It's just like flight tickets!
